NHS Paper Recycling Drive
NHS Paper Recycling will continue on every Tuesday this year at Sterling Heights High School during all lunches and after school. Items can be easily dropped in the recycling bin by the tennis courts at any time.
Accepted paper recycling items:
-standard paper for writing, word processing, printing, etc..
-colored or construction paper
-newspapers, magazines, periodicals
-posters (non laminated)
-poster board or light-weight paper folders
-paper back books
-hard cover books (must have covers & glue removed first)
PLEASE NO CARDBOARD OR PLASTIC
Our chapter earns $5 per ton of paper collected with potential to earn more each month when more than one ton is collected. We would like to encourage the community to recycle paper products through our program to support the chapter members. Chapter members may earn community service hours by donating a full printer-paper box. Those who do can earn 1/2 hour credit per box. Other ways to gain service credit are to help collect paper every Tuesday from classrooms at Sterling during lunches or after school.
We rose 3,000 for Play Place for Autism! It was an honor and a pleasure to fundraise for such an amazing organization. We thank Shell Jones for this opportunity and look forward to working with you in the future! Also, thank you to everyone who participated, it would be possible without you!
Play Place for Autistic Families
Play Place for Autistic Families was voted to be the non profit group of our chapter throughout the 2017-18 school year.
The organization has accepted our offer for service and supports our fundraisers throughout the school year, such as the Eggstravaganza and the Bake Sales both held at Sterling Heights High School.
A link to sign up for service opportunities has been added to the Play Place website for ease of NHS volunteers. Chapter support means members will be required to volunteer at least one hour each quarter in service at Play Place.
Change For Children
After collecting during all three lunches everyday for about one month we rose 550 dollars! With such great success we've decided to fill an additional 100 draw string bags for the children at Royal Oak Beaumont Hospital! These bags will contain activity books, coloring supplies, toys, etc to help lift the spirit of the children in the hospital. Thank you to everyone who participated, it would be possible without you!
